Community Ready is live

This week we launched Community Ready — a Commonet program for lake associations, neighbourhoods, and grassroots communities that want to be ready for the first 72 hours of an emergency.

Storms, wildfires, floods, and prolonged outages don't wait for perfect plans. And when help is hours away, neighbours are the response team.

Community Ready is built for that reality.

What it is

Community Ready starts with a free assessment: a clear picture of where your community stands on communication, knowledge, coordination, and infrastructure — compared with communities like yours.

From there, stewards get a personalized plan. Members get an Action page — join on Beacon, read Guides, sign up for volunteer lists, register for training, and express interest in shared gear.

No giant binder. No consultant deck. A living roadmap your board can actually work through.

Why we built it

We've spent years building tools for preparedness — Guides for knowledge, Beacon for place-based communication — mostly behind the scenes for institutions that already had budgets and mandates.

Community Ready turns that same stack outward: toward the cottage associations, trail clubs, and neighbourhood groups that already show up for each other, but rarely have a shared system when the lights go out.

It's Canadian-hosted, free to start, and designed so communities own their plans — not another platform that owns their attention.
